Who can participate in the Wilderness Canoe Trip?
This trip is for teenagers (14 [as of January 1st] – 18) who are ready for an unforgettable time of adventure and discipleship in the wilderness!
What does a typical canoe trip itinerary look like?
Each day on the trip involves lots of paddling, portaging gear, setting up (and packing up) tents, communing around the fire, eating good food, listening to biblical teaching, worshiping, swimming, and more. We’ll have two stay days on two separate islands, and those days will involve more games, free time, and get-alone-with-God time. All this takes place against the backdrop of God’s breathtaking creation.
How can I support Wilderness Canoe Trip?
You can support us by donating, volunteering, or spreading the word about our mission.
What should participants bring on the trip?
We provide a detailed packing list, but essentials include a waterproof bag, appropriate clothing, and a sleeping bag.
Does my child need to know how to paddle a canoe?
No! Some experience is ideal, but leaders will demonstrate proper paddling on the trip, and stragglers will be given a tow.
How are emergencies handled while on the trip?
A trip of this nature comes with risks, but an experienced lifeguard and a leader with wilderness first aid training will accompany us. We will also be equipped with a satellite phone that is able to send out emergency messages from any location. Bush plane pilots are available to fly in at any time. We are trusting God as our ultimate Protector and Provider.
